Near the edge of a quiet rural property surrounded by tall grass, flowering bushes, and scattered trees, an emotional scene unfolded beneath the warm colors of early morning sunlight.
Dew covered the ground while soft wind moved gently through the countryside. Birds called peacefully from nearby branches, and for a moment the area seemed calm and untouched.
But beside an abandoned section of garden fencing near the field, something was terribly wrong.
A beautiful peacock had become trapped in loose netting.
The magnificent bird struggled helplessly against a tangled mass of thin green mesh partially hidden in the grass near the fence line. Its long colorful tail feathers lay scattered across the ground while sections of the netting wrapped tightly around one wing and both legs.
Nearby stood another peacock.
The trapped bird’s partner refused to leave.
The second peacock remained only a few feet away, pacing nervously around the tangled bird while letting out soft distressed calls whenever the trapped peacock struggled harder against the net.
