It was an ordinary patrol through the dusty savannah for a group of soldiers in a military transport vehicle. The road was clear, the mission routine — until a towering shadow appeared in the distance.
A lone giraffe stood in the middle of the narrow dirt path, its long neck stretching high above the trees. At first, the soldiers thought it would simply wander away. But the giraffe didn’t move. It held its ground, staring directly at the approaching vehicle.
