It was a quiet morning on the coast—until a desperate call came in.
A young seal pup had been spotted trapped between jagged rocks along a remote shoreline. With the tide rising and the pup growing weaker by the minute, a team of marine biologists rushed into action.
What followed was a tense, emotional rescue that left even seasoned scientists in tears.
A Cry for Help From the Shoreline
Local hikers first noticed the seal early that morning.
The pup had likely gotten stuck chasing fish during low tide, then became wedged in a narrow rock crevice.
It was cold, wet, and terrified.
“She was crying out, her little flippers scraping against the rock,” said Jenna Liu, a marine rescue specialist.
“If we had arrived an hour later… she wouldn’t have made it.”
The Race Against the Rising Tide
Time was not on their side.
