Parrot Caught Near a Resort as Monitor Lizard Approaches

The parrot suddenly began fluttering wildly near the resort grounds, but something moving through the grass made the situation even more concerning. A large monitor lizard was slowly approaching, while the bird remained in a difficult position with very little room to move.

The resort had been peaceful throughout the afternoon, with guests walking between the buildings and gardens. Near one of the quieter areas, however, the parrot had somehow ended up unable to get away from the ground.

The bird repeatedly moved its wings and tried to create some distance. Its movements attracted the attention of nearby resort staff, who noticed the unusual activity before realizing that a large reptile was also moving through the vegetation.

The monitor lizard continued forward.

It stopped occasionally, appearing to observe the parrot from the edge of the garden. The bird became increasingly restless as the distance between them became smaller.

The staff immediately understood that they needed to act carefully.

Nobody wanted to rush toward a wild reptile and make the situation more unpredictable. At the same time, leaving the parrot in a difficult position while the lizard continued approaching did not seem like a good option.

For a few moments, everyone watched closely.

A Monitor Lizard Moves Closer

The monitor lizard slowly crossed the grass, keeping its attention toward the area where the parrot was located. The bird continued fluttering and shifting along the ground, looking for a clear way to move away.

One resort employee carefully approached from a safe direction while another kept an eye on the lizard. Their goal was not to confront the reptile, but to create enough space for the bird to move away safely.

The monitor lizard paused.

The parrot suddenly tried to move toward a nearby low branch but could not reach it. It dropped back to the ground and began moving in another direction.

The staff member took another careful step.

The lizard responded by turning slightly, creating a tense moment in the garden. Everyone remained cautious, knowing that sudden movements could cause either animal to react unpredictably.

Then the parrot noticed an opening.

The bird moved toward a section of the garden where several branches hung close to the ground. It flapped its wings again, gaining just enough height to reach one of them. But the monitor lizard was still nearby.

The parrot remained perched on the low branch, watching the reptile below. The staff waited patiently, avoiding any action that could cause the bird to panic and return to the ground.

The Moment the Situation Changes

The monitor lizard moved closer to the base of the tree, then stopped beneath the branches. The parrot remained completely still, appearing to understand that staying above the ground was the safest option.

A resort employee slowly moved to another position, keeping a clear path open between the bird and the surrounding trees. Another staff member watched the reptile and made sure nobody approached too closely.

The lizard eventually turned away from the branch.

It began moving toward another section of vegetation, gradually increasing the distance between itself and the parrot. The staff continued waiting until the reptile was far enough away.

The monitor lizard continued through the garden before disappearing into thicker vegetation. The parrot stayed safely above the ground, watching from the branches as the unusual encounter came to an end.

What had initially looked like a frightening situation had become a remarkable wildlife moment at the resort. The quick observation of the staff gave the parrot the space it needed while avoiding unnecessary contact with the wild reptile.

Encounters like this can happen in resorts located near natural habitats, where wildlife can move freely through gardens and open spaces. The safest response is usually to keep people at a distance, avoid cornering wild animals, and allow trained staff or wildlife professionals to manage situations that require intervention.

What should you do if you find a parrot in trouble?

If you find a parrot that appears unable to fly or move safely, keep the area calm and prevent children and pets from approaching. Avoid chasing the bird, grabbing it suddenly, or making loud movements that could cause it to panic.

If the parrot is a domestic or escaped bird, contact the owner, a veterinarian, or an appropriate animal rescue service when possible. If it is a wild bird, a local wildlife rehabilitator or trained professional can provide advice on whether intervention is necessary.

If a monitor lizard or another wild animal is nearby, do not attempt to physically separate the animals yourself. Keep a safe distance and contact trained wildlife staff if the situation requires assistance.

Can you approach a wild monitor lizard yourself?

It is best not to approach, corner, chase, or attempt to capture a wild monitor lizard. Even when the animal appears calm, it may react defensively if it feels threatened or has no clear escape route.

Keep people and pets away from the area and give the reptile plenty of room to move away naturally. If the animal is inside a resort, home, or another busy area, trained wildlife professionals should be contacted rather than attempting to handle it yourself.
