Puppy Comes Face-to-Face With a Snake in the Meadow

The puppy suddenly stopped in the middle of the meadow and stared at something moving through the grass. A woman nearby noticed the unusual pause, but before she could see what had caught the puppy’s attention, the small dog stepped closer.

It is generally best not to approach, capture, restrain, or move a wild snake without proper training and equipment. Even a snake that appears motionless can react quickly when it feels threatened.

Keep children and pets away and allow the snake a clear path to leave the area. If the snake is injured, stuck, or located somewhere that creates an ongoing safety concern, contact a trained wildlife professional or local animal authority.
