Streamer Amouranth explains why she shared social media post during violent home invasion instead of calling 911

admin March 6, 2025

“I’m being robbed at gunpont,” Twitch streamer Amouranth hastily shared with her followers. “This is not a prank help,” she added, before a minute later informing her fans she had just shot someone.

At around 10.30pm on Sunday (March 2), Kaitlyn Siragusa, who goes by Amouranth online, was dragged out of bed by masked men at her Texas residence and ordered to transfer her $20 million worth of Bitcoin to her intruders.

Amouranth’s home was broken into by armed robbers after she shared a screenshot of her crypto wallet with more than $20 million worth of Bitcoin (X/Amouranth)

The three home intruders were handed access to her crypto account, and with a gun to her head, she boldly tweeted for help rather than dial 911, as to not arise suspicion.

Having detailed the intrusion and the aftermath of it on her Twitter account, she received backlash for opting to tweet about the ordeal rather than call the police for help, with some people claiming the ordeal is too far-fetched to believe.

“Being robbed at gunpoint and they’re nice enough to let you tweet and pull out a gun,” one disbelieving user sarcastically posted.

While another fan backed her up, writing: “AFAIK [As far as I know] she just posted on X, so other would have seen it too, esp as she’s apparently famous.

“I guess it makes sense to post on X as opposed to all 911, you know plenty of people will see it, you won’t have to explain yourself audibly and you won’t get an immediate call back.”

To which the 31-year-old replied: “This.”

She went on to explain her reasoning for sharing the home invasion on social media instead of with the cops.

“Hello, person in the story here,” Siragusa wrote.

“I get swatted ALOT. If you don’t know the term look it up.”

‘Swatting’ is when you make prank calls to the emergency services.

She continued: “While you might call 911 and have responders enroute within moments, mine tend to be half-hour ‘can we confirm it’s not another prank’ dispatch holds.

“I know this from experience sadly — it took 33 mins when a confirmed stalker actively tried to gain entry into my home.

“Tweeting ensures my many employees and fans see it and signal boost the legitimacy. I literally have people who’s job it is to keep tabs on socials.

“Also, my security system already pings law enforcement when loud noises / broken glass is audibly heard.”

The first tweet came at 10.55pm Central Standard Time, it read: “I’m being too robbed at gunpont.”

Before being followed up seconds later with: “This is not a prank help.”

One minute later, she posted: “I believe I shot one of them they wanted crypto is what they were yelling they pulled me out of bed.”

Siragusa then explained how she was ‘covered in blood but only some of it is mine’.

However, despite claiming initially that she had shot the intruders, NBC 2 reported how the Texan claimed that she led the robbers into a room in her home where her husband was allegedly waiting armed with a handgun, having supposedly seen her tweet.
